Personal Interests and Information

Ok, here is my stab at a personal page, and hell if I know why I put this up here. I think maybe I have too much time on my hands. Most of this comes from my SocialNet profile, a little help from my friends and from all those emails that every seems to send me to fill out topics about myself.

Activities

What do you do for fun? "Go to the movies, music, horseback riding, rock climbing, museums, playing board games, reading, dancing, RPGs, camping, painting models, just about anything that occupies my time."
So what kind of movies do you like? "Comedies, dramas, romances, suspense, adventure, science fiction, and horror"
What are your favorite movies: "Highlander, Sleepless In Seattle, Bram Stroker's Dracula, X-Men, Jerry Maguire, Stargate, Star Wars, Star Trek, Braveheart, A Few Good Men, Top Gun, Almost Famous. As you can see I don't have a set favorite."

What are your current favorite shows? "Well, I don't watch much TV. So I have no current favorites."
Then what are your all-time favorite shows: "X-Files, Werewolf, Stargate, and Cheers. I have always like the conspiracy theory movies and shows. Werewolf, well I have already stated that. Stargate, only because I loved the movie, but I am heavy into the science fiction scene. Of course everyone loves Cheers, right?"

What kind of music do you listen to? "Classical music, jazz, rock, alternative, country, techno, soul, and R&B."
What is your favorite musical artist? "Don't really have one... Creed, A-ha, Boingo, NIN, Sting, Paula Cole, Jewel, Lit, Debelah Morgan, Styx, Sister Machine Gun are some of my favorites."
Well what about your favorite song and why? "Hummm.... 7 (Prince), Come Sail Away (Styx), or You Were Mine (Dixie Chicks). Those are the first three that come to mind. Good memories and fun times dancing and singing those songs. Of course for Halloween there is always Dead Man's Party (Onigo Boingo). For something more modern how about With Arms Wide Open (Creed). There is also Thru These Eyes by Spread Eagle. The band never made it, but with a name like that, its no wonder why. But that song was well done and kind of majestic, not at all what you would expect from a heavy metal band."

Why do you rock climb? "To have fun, keep fit, and explore new challenges."
So you like the outdoors a lot: "Yeah you could say that. I like walking, hiking, gardening, sailing, backpacking, horseback riding, camping. Not all the time, but at least once a month."
Why? "Because of the beauty and diversity of nature, it's a peaceful way to spend time, it's a romantic way to spend time with a lover or date. Ideally I would love to have a log cabin in the middle of wooded mountains with a nearby stream."

You mentioned reading, what do you like to read? "Mostly science fiction, but sometimes I like horror and fantasy. An occasional spy or mystery book slips in there."

What are your favorite books? 'Hum... Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan, Salem's Lots by Stephen King, Foundation by Isaac Asimov, and most of all Uplift Novel by David Brin."

Would you consider yourself cultured? "I would have to say yes, maybe not highly, but a little. I enjoy learning about other cultures, their folklore and customs. I also enjoy symphonies, bailey, and theater. I would not go to a opera without kicking and screaming being drag that whole way. But I do try to catch the Shakespeare festivals when the come into town. Bailey is something I grew up with, going to every year to the Nutcracker with my parents and aunt. As for the symphonies, its a great way to relax, and a good excuse to have a nice dinner after."

What about other 'cultural' events? "I do go to museums and galleries. I try to catch most of the Egyptian exhibits that go on display. An occasional art show or fair is not missed either. But it just seems that I lack the time to do everything that I want to do."
Do you participate in any of the arts? "Not really, other than viewing. I don't seem to have much talent for music or painting. I do on occasion write poetry, but I would not consider that grand or anything, just something I do."

Education and Work

What education have you completed? "High school diploma, military school, a professional career program, some college and still studying."
Any honors, certificates or diplomas? "Of course I have my high school diploma, and certificate from the Naval School of Health Sciences. I have also gotten my A+ Technician Certification. As for honors and such I was on the Dean's List for two quarters and the Vice-president of the Emily Durkheim Honors Society at Salt Lake Community College."
What is the best reason to pursue an education? "To gain knowledge and wisdom and further your career goals. But in reality I enjoy learning new things."
Who was your favorite teacher and why? "My old social science and history teacher in college, don't remember his name. Was always bad with names anyways. He was very philosophical and able to understand other cultures and societies."
What type of work do you do? "Computer technician, official title Help Desk Analyst. Basically I figure out what's wrong with the computer and do my best to fix or solve the problem. I really enjoy it, solving and discovering new problems, or just the research some of them take."
What are your future goals? "Would like to develop my web development and programming skills. Finish up my education in that area, and move up in the world."

Home and Family

What is your family like? "Does vicious sound about right? -smiles- They are for the most part traditional. I grew up only with my parents, all my other siblings were out on their own for most of my childhood. But I do have a large extended family stretching over many states."
What is your ideal family life? "Both parents raising their children in cooperation and agreement, happily. Sort of the old traditional family, which just does not seem to exist anymore."
What are the differences between you and the rest of family? "I believe I am more open about life and attitudes. Much more accepting of others and cultures."
Who are your closest family member? "Two really, my mom and my sister Diane. I do get along with all of my extended family, but almost never see them or hear from them. My sister Julie, nieces and nephews are alright also. Me and my brother never talk, never seemed to. And last I refuse to deal with my sister Maxine ever again."

Do you have any pets? "Yeah a cat, named Gray."
What is your attitude towards pets? "Kind of funny, I have a cat (you never seem to own them), but I am more a dog person. Little story behind that, but I would never give her up now. As far as other animals go, any and all are good to have around as long as they and you are happy. IF you can't taken care of them, give them attention, and treat them humanely, then you should not have them at all."

Personality

Describe you general personality: "I am generally a warm, caring, supportive person. Of course you have to get past my dark sense of humor and being sarcastic first. I run the gambit of patient, from having all the time in the world to being strapped for the lack of time. I try to understand how others think and feel. I rarely get angry, even when pushed. I am confident in myself and my abilities to move forward and adapt to my surroundings. I do tend to be a little anti-social (hence the jokes and dark humor to break the ice), but the second I can find a common ground, or get a few too many in me, I would tell you anything in the world. What can I say, I do not hide behind anything, nor do I care what others know about me. My strength and downfall lays in the fact that I try to be romantic, passionate, and totally faithful, but it gets to the point that it blinds me to what's going on."

So you are sarcastic? "Yeah, but not in the sense that I slap everything down. No its more of my way of deal with the strange and unusual. A way of say that nothing is that serious, laugh about it you will feel better."

What about the dark humor? "Doing what I did for the first part of my life, I guess you could say, my first life career, you tend to get that way. Which was medicine. If you did not find humor in even the worse circumstances you would crack up in bad way. Of course being fascinated with vampires, undead, and werewolves does not help either."

What four positive words would you use to describe yourself and why? "Intelligent, independent, compassionate, and reliable. I have always considered myself intelligent. I would rather think about the possibilities in life and not dwell on the mistakes. I also have a knack for picking up new things very quickly without a lot of study. I used to be a little co-dependent, always wanting to rely on someone else and to have them rely on me. I found out the hard way, that it just does not work. You must put your faith in your own abilities and not others. They won't always be there, and in the end you and only you are responsible for you actions. I would say that I am compassionate. I would help out any friend in need, weather that be with money, advice, a shoulder, whatever. I hate seeing children go without and so I do my best to donate to children funds for food, clothing and other needs. I guess I do empathize, and can put myself in their shoes. I am reliable in the sense that if I say I am going to do something I do it. I live up to my promises, and the first hint that I can't do something I admit it."

What four negative words would you use to describe yourself? "Proud, hurried, incautious, and introvert. When I accomplish something I tend to wave it around and talk about it. Sometimes I go off the deep end with it, which I admit can be annoying. I always seem pressed for time. I need to get this project done, or that thing take care of. I am not cautious at all, except when it comes to personal matters, and even then not always. I am willing to take risks that no one else seems to want. I am not really an introvert, but I do have a hard time opening up and meet other people. I am not into the big crowds or gathers other than the local clubs."

Would you consider yourself sexy? "Me! Sexy? Who's asking these questions."

Social

How do you feel about dating? "Generally I am comfortable with dating. I pretty much get along with everybody, as long as the can tolerate that dark humor. But I do have a hard time breaking the ice with someone I want to go out on a date with. Talking to them is not a problem, just the asking."
What do you normally do for dates? "That would depend on the lady in question. I prefer a quiet dinner, catching a movie, or going to the clubs. I have gone to the symphony and theater performance one more than one occasion. I think its best to keep it informal for the most part."
What was your best date: "Best date I have had was a quite dinner at home, which I cook for a friend, with candle light and soft music in the background next to a fireplace. I have not been able to match that yet."
What about your worst date: "None as of yet. So far no embarrassing moments, ex's showing up, no-shows, and so on."

What kind of dancing do you do? "Party and club dancing, rave, and country."
Why do you like to dance? "For love of the music, exercise, to meet new people, and generally because it's fun."
What kind of dance experiences and place have you been? "Mostly clubbing, but I still vaguely remember ballroom dancing. I have also done several line dances and Two-step, but that was over two years ago. I think so far my favorite place to dance was at Area51 in my old state."

What about politics? "What about them? Just kidding, I am concerned with social issues, term limits, taxation, finance reform, the environment, and education policies."

So what is your political affiliation? "Depends on the candidate or issue, generally more of the Democratic Socialist bend."
What is the most important social issue? "That's tough, by I would say poverty. The rich get richer, the poor, poorer, so the saying goes. I do try to donate money and gifts to various funds."
What is the most important political issue today? "Another toughie. How about  environmental policy. It seems that if a big corporation or group of workers has enough money, they can buy out the politicians and do what ever they want to."

Other

What are your favorite foods? "Cajun, French, Italian, Mexican, Pizza, and Mongolian."
Do you cook? "I cook rather than starve. -smiles- Naw, I can cook, and consider myself pretty good for the most part. Just not really one of my top ten things to do. Although I make a pretty good Stroganoff."

What is you favorite dish? "Either Mongolian Stir Fry or Cajun Chicken Pasta."

What about fitness? "Does reaching for the remote count? Ok enough with the bad puns. I enjoy walking, swimming, and martial arts. I try to live a balanced lifestyle with long-term health in mind. But other than walking I only exercise once a week, at least until summer time."
What about travel? "I would like to tour the country, visit the largest cities, go on a  safari, and see a new places. With time permitting week long and short trips are easier, or that little weekend getaway. I try to jump into the local lifestyle, sample the foods, do a little sightseeing, just relax."
Where have you been? "I have lived or been to the following -- Seattle, Vancouver (Canada), Portland, LA, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Denver, Cheyenne, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, St. Louis, Chicago, San Diego, Boise, Reno, Minneapolis, New Mexico, Cancun, Bonn (Germany), Tijuana (Mexico), Saudi Arabia, and Philippines. I would like to visit every US state, Canadian providence, and all of the European and Pacific Rim countries."
