blind

in the beginning

you tend to know everything

but you never can see your blindness

you forget your friends

change your dreams

and travel a new road

keep telling yourself

its okay and pat yourself on the back

protected from harm by your love

that you fight so dearly to hold on to.

            blind to the wilting flowers

            blind to the setting sun

blind to the air of change

            blind to your own heart

            blind

ball and chain

safely secured

tucked away

like toys in the attic

you sit in silence

branded by your own meandering thoughts

sworn to your prison of memories

in your darkest hour

is love there to hold your hand

to kiss away the pain

or does in pull the noose tighter?

you are protected by your misery

the years drift by

your ambition, your zest, and vitality fade away

do you hold love so dear now

a living skeleton of a man

no warm touch

no soothing kiss

your eyes rotted away years ago

dont you see now.

blind

is this how you visioned it

blind

your restless soul, your endless pain

blind

all that is precious

all that is beautiful

blind

pick the scabs off your eyes

feel the sick caress

the preveted look of love.
