Ok, here are my personal fixes and tips for various items. Several of these have been research by me, others or came from web sites (like Microsoft, McAfee, Norton, etc.) Please follow the instructions completely without fail if it mentions Regedit or HKEY at all. These are called Reg Hacks, one wrong move (misspelled word, a 1 instead of a 0, whatever) and you computer may quite operating normally. If in doubt call your local tech support team for help.
Browser Tech relates to browser issues. Browsers are the programs you use to navigate the internet, like Internet Explorer (IE), Netscape Navigator, and Opera.
Email Tech relates to email, email programs, and news groups. Email programs (also called email clients) are Outlook Express, Outlook, Netscape, and Eudora.
Modem Tech relates to modems and their function. With in modems I have child web pages describing INIT strings, the deal with 56k Modems and speed, and line noise. If you think you are not getting the right speed, read those articles first before you call up your local tech and rip into him or her.
OS Tech relates to Operating Systems, like Windows98, Windows ME, Mac OS. Most of it will relate to Windows, being that UNIX operators understand the system and are general techs themselves, and MAC users don't seem to run into as much difficulty as windows users. This section also contains information on how to extract (install) Winsocks, which relates to modems.
Virus Tech relates to virus, and right now I don't have a lot up their. If you are really worried about it get a good Anti-Virus Program and a Firewall. The anti-virus tries to catch them, the firewall will help keep some of the more in genius ones away plus provide security if you are on all the time, like me.
The rest of this page is for general information, or it did not belong under any of the above groups.
